This month I'm going to join this challenge of 30 paintings in 30 days. That means everyday for the month of September I'm going to create a painting whether its on paper or canvas I'm just going to create.
If you would like to a challenge and want to join in just post your daily image to Instagram or on my page on Facebook with the hashtag #30creationsin30.
Here are few tips on how to keep motivated even when your busy during the week.
Tips for a smooth month ahead:
2. Create your own hashtag (i.e. #yourname30in30) so you can go back to your own work quickly and easily.
3.Let your friends and family know, clear your social calendar for the month because you may get a bit overwhelmed trying to juggle everything.
4. Be purposeful. Plan ahead so you aren't scrambling. This is especially true if you are traveling or have visitors in town later in the month or if you are a teacher like me getting ready to start the new school year.
5. Prepare your surfaces ahead of time. Paper, canvas, whatever you choose to use, make sure the surface is ready.
6. Gather your supplies ahead of time and prepare a clean and uncluttered space.
7. Give yourself some dedicated time to paint each day, if possible.
8.Sometimes it’s easier to work on several paintings at once rather than completing a single painting each day. Consider working on, for example, 5 paintings at a time, over 5 days. So, Plan ahead with restrictions. Try to stick to one thing, either 30 of the same size, medium, subject, etc. or break it down to 3-10s. If you normally paint 5x7s, don't commit to 40x40s.
9.Create your own theme to explore. You could do faces, abstracts, florals, specific sizes, or anything else you are interested in exploring. Restrictions on your work will help you stay focused and also take the pressure off. It also will help to have a cohesive body of work by day 30.
10.Give yourself grace. There will be days when you miss it, don't fret. Just start again the next day.
11.Use the supplies you have! No need to break the bank! Consider working on paper to save on cost and storage space.
12.Be supportive. Help a sistah (or brotha) out when they express their frustrations. Sometimes, things go south and we lose sight of the end goal. This should be a fun experience not an anxiety attack.
13.Don't forget to eat and sleep!
14. Share your work and your insights along the way! Let everyone know what you learn!
Just have fun!
All paintings from my 30in30 will be for sale in my shop at thesonscreations.com.
